Historic win for Bulga residents against Rio Tinto coal mine expansion

Residents of the Hunter Valley village of Bulga celebrate their landmark victory in the NSW Court of Appeal over a coal mine expansion by Rio Tinto.

The Court upheld an earlier NSW Land and Environment Court decision that significant dust, noise and social impacts and the destruction of rare forest containing threatened plant and animal species, outweighed the economic benefits of the project.
