Broad environmental expertise
EDO NSW is the acknowledged expert when it comes to the law and how it applies to the environment. We help the community to solve environmental issues by providing legal and scientific advice, community legal education and proposals for better laws.
Independent and accessible services
As a non-government and not-for-profit legal centre, our services are provided without fear or favour. Anyone can contact us to get free initial legal advice about an environmental problem, with many of our services targeted at rural and regional communities.
How to make a complaint
EDO NSW has a process for handling complaints. Any complaints should be directed to the Executive Director on (02) 9262 6989 or at Level 5, 263 Clarence Street Sydney NSW 2000.
Australian Network of EDOs
EDO NSW is part of a national network of nine independently constituted and managed community environmental law centres located in each State and Territory of Australia. Each EDO is dedicated to protecting the environment in the public interest.
EDO NSW receives grants from:
- the Public Purpose Fund of the Law Society of New South Wales;
- Legal Aid New South Wales;
- the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department;
- the New South Wales Government through its Environmental Trust;
- David and Lucile Packard Foundation;
- John D & Catherine T MacArthur Foundation;and
- Environment and Planning Law Association of NSW (EPLA).
EDO NSW is committed to ensuring that any person or organisation using or seeking to use its services has the right to lodge a complaint about the organisation and to have their concerns addressed in ways that ensure access and equity, fairness, accountability and transparency.
