Draft National Strategy for Mitigating Vessel Strike of Marine Mega-fauna
The Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy is calling for public comment on strategies that can be implemented to avoid the injury and death caused to large marine animals by marine vessels.
The Department has released a Draft National Strategy for Mitigating Vessel Strike of Marine Mega-fauna that outlines a guiding framework for identifying species most at risk of vessel collision, areas where these species are most at risk of vessel collision, and appropriate management measures to reduce the risk of vessel collisions with marine mega-fauna.
Submissions are invited until Friday 9 December 2016.
