Featured Opportunity - Draft Change to Mining Policy

The NSW Government is proposing amendments to the Mining SEPP to remove the provisions that make resource significance the principal consideration for decision-makers when determining a mining application.

The changes would mean that social, environmental and economic considerations would all have equal footing under the the Mining SEPP.

We have made a number of submissions on mining law and policy, including a submission opposing the prioritisation of economic benefits of minerals as the ‘principal consideration’ over other economic, social and environmental impacts of mining proposals when it was first proposed in 2013.

Submissions are invited until Tuesday 21 July 2015. Read more and have your say.
