This week we've been hosting visitors from our partner organisations working to protect the rainforests of Papua New Guinea.
Peter Bosip, Executive Director of the Centre for Environmental Law and Community Rights (CELCOR) in PNG, and Aina Grødahl, Senior Advisor for the Melanesian and Myanmar Program at Rainforest Foundation Norway (RFN), came to Sydney after site visits in PNG with lawyers from our International Program.
EDO staff with visitors, including BJ Kim, Director of the International Program (4th from l), Aina Grødahl of RFN (5th from l), Cecilia Fonseca, International Program Officer (6th from l) and Peter Bosip of CELCOR (5th from r).
Papua New Guinea is the world’s second biggest island with the world’s third largest virgin rainforest - which is now under significant threat from logging and mining.
EDO's International program reached a game-changing milestone last year in securing funding from Rainforest Foundation Norway to support CELCOR with forestry litigation and policy. RFN is one of the world’s leading organisations in the field of rights-based rainforest protection.
