Water in international law
Dr Emma Carmody, our Senior Policy and Law Reform Solicitor and water law expert, spoke on a panel on international law and water at the International Law Association Conference in Sydney this week.
The panel was entitled ‘Managing and Conserving Water in International Law’.
Dr Kate Owens, lecturer in law at Sydney University, Dr Emma Carmody and Dr Ximena Fuentes Torrino of the Dept of Foreign Affairs Chile.
Emma, who is legal advisor to the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, also gave a presentation entitled ‘Wetlands for humanity: How the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands can be used to meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals’.
